What Does It Take to Be An Ironman with Diabetes?

It’s an incredible undertaking to be an Ironman. Swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, run 26.2 miles all in one day, in less than 17 hours. Add diabetes into the mix and the whole undertaking is that much more intense and incredible. Team WILD has 10 women with diabetes doing Ironman Wisconsin on September 11, 2011. There are 11 women in all on the team.

In this video, team members Heidi-Jane and Kathy Z. talk about their mental readiness and they give us some insight into their diabetes strategies for race day.
