On Friday, I took the day off and flew to Denver with Becca, my Diabetes Alert Dog. In case you missed the sticky blogs, tweets and Facebook posts, Friday night was the TeamWILD Launch party and Tour de Cure kick-off at PrimalWear‘s HQ. I refused to miss that party. I finally met, face-to-face, so many people who have been key to my becoming an athlete.
We spent lots of time throughout the weekend talking about TeamWILD, hatching plans to extend our reach. We talked about training. And we supported each other through the highs and lows of diabetes. There is nothing like spending time with people who get it.
Saturday afternoon, a few members of the TeamWILD staff went for a very windy hike near Boulder.
From left to right in the photo above: Mara, chef and my host for the weekend who made me feel very much at home; Mari, wearer of many hats and incessant videographer; Becca, alerter of everyone’s low blood sugars; Karen, comedienne (which is admittedly hard to distinguish in this group), whip smart editor and database wrangler.
Spending time with these women reminded me how much I need time with smart, inspiring people to help me stay on track with my cycle, diabetes, and nutrition training. Thank you all for the boost; I can’t wait for Camp! (more on that soon…)
