Have you ever been told you should exercise because you have diabetes?

Almost all of us with diabetes have been told at one time or another that we should exercise. Because it’s good for our health. But, very rarely does anyone teach us HOW or help us get motivated. And that’s where TeamWILD fits in!

TeamWILD is a training system for people with diabetes, type 2 or type 1, who want to get physically fit using the sports of triathlon, cycling, running and/or walking. For details on our awesome programs and camp for adults with diabetes, click HERE.

At TeamWILD we call you an athlete.  Ability has little to do with what we offer. And we have an integrated approach to being an athlete with diabetes. The athletic coaches work in tandem with the diabetes and sports nutrition coaches to create programs that allow for maximum performance. Performance in life as well as in the sport!

We have programs for Cycling - 100 miles, 100K and 50K, for Running - Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K, for Triathlon - 70.3, Olympic and Sprint. WILDfit is our walk/run starter program for people with diabetes to experiment with being an athlete first. We also have CampWILD in Boulder, CO June 20- 24, 2012.

Be sure to sign up for the TeamWILD newsletter! This is how we will let everyone know about TeamWILD programs, news and get hot tips about how to be an athlete and fit person with diabetes! We want to help everyone with diabetes be WILD and healthy! Take action! Let us know who you are and we will help you!

Here’s a testimonial from Tiffany, type 2, who did the Cycling Program. TeamWILD will transform your life!  Go WILD!

Hi Karen, I messaged you on Facebook. I’m not sure if you saw, but please go ahead and feel free to use my blog post on Paula Deen. :) I think on my blog, you can click on my profile, and it gives you an option of messaging me? I’m not sure… At some point, I’ll make a “Contact Me” tab. :) But Mari Ruddy is also a friend of mine on Facebook, in case you ever need to contact me… Glad you enjoyed the piece.

You can absolutely take advantage of the TeamWILD programs from wherever you are! We’ll have some races/events where a group of WILD athletes are participating, but many of our athletes do local events where they live. You can sign up for a program and get your weekly training plan and nutrition and diabetes information/tips. We’ll have some mental skills coaching in there, too, as I’m sure you know that’s an important part of being an endurance athlete. You’ll have access to other athletes on your team and be invited to attend question and answer webinars with the coaches, who you’ll ‘recognize’ from the video clips that accompany your training plan.

I have just discovered Team Wild after appearing in the same magazine (Diabetes Forecast, December edition, I was one of the English Channel Swimmers on the page before your article). I am a 41 year old type 1 who has competed in Ironman but now reduced to Sprint through injuries. Since Ironman 2 years ago, I have had niggly injuries, put on 20lb, have gotten unfit and taken to eating and drinking too much! This team is exactly what I need to inspire me back to happy tri times but I have one problem….I live in the UK. I have good friends in the USA and try to visit every year. Is there anyway I could join the team and race in the UK but join you for a USA race if the dates work out? Claire
