Kali Abel Coach - Running Kali Abel has been a competitive runner for 13 years. She began as a high school cross country runner in Portland, Oregon, progressed to running as a collegiate athlete in Maine and has continued on to run professionally and semi-professionally all over the world. She will run just about any distance so long as it takes more time than it does to lace up racing shoes and not enough to wear them out. She continues to ‘specialize’ in cross country, trail races and road races from the 5k distance to the marathon, the half marathon being her favorite road distance….so far. Since moving to Boulder, CO in 2008 she has continued to train and race, but also coaches a variety of groups and individuals in events from the mile to the marathon, long distance trail racing to triathlon. Her focus has been on 10k, half-marathon and marathon training for athletes from ages 10 to 80+. She also is the head girls cross country coach for Centaurus High School in Lafayette, CO, winning Northern Conference Coach of the Year for 2011, and coaches both hurdles and pole vault (yes, pole vault) during the high school track season. Kali has developed a unique ability to create training programs that help athletes reach their athletic goals while staying physically and mentally healthy. She enjoys working with new athletes, running veterans, those coming back from injury or health issues, and those looking to try something new. Her passion for the sport has allowed her to stay up with current research on training philosophy, biomechanics, nutrition, health issues, race strategy and mental preparation. She believes in the development of well-rounded athletes who maintain a healthy focus, life balance and enjoyment for running all while in pursuit of ever evolving goals.
