Jennifer Smith

Jennifer has 10 years of experience in the field of human nutrition and has spent the last 5 years specifically working with diabetes. She has lived with type 1 diabetes for 22 years and thus also has personal knowledge of the day to day events that effect diabetes management. In her career she has worked with all types of people to assist them in meeting their personal nutrition goals – whether for weight loss or gain, improved blood sugar control, or understanding the use of medications or the use of insulin pumps or continuous glucose monitors– she understands each person has individual needs and abilities.

Since attending a diabetes specific training camp for assistance with meeting her own athletic goals Jennifer has realized her passion for working with people to achieve their fitness goals while living healthfully with diabetes. In TeamWILD’s first season, she successfully completed the 70.3 Triathlon with Team WILD and understands the depth of training required and the importance of nutrition to get to the end athletic goal.

As a dietitian and diabetes educator she can assist with helping you meet your personal goals while also targeting blood glucose levels and the intricacies of medication management. As a member of the medical staff and a team member herself she can help you understand what your body needs to perform at it’s peak. Recently, Jenny has taken her own nutrition to new levels and she is now a plant-based vegan. Jenny has expert knowledge about special diets.

In addition to supporting TeamWILD athletes, Jenny is a volunteer contributor for the Nutrition Tips Column at DiabetesSisters.
